Silent Night, Holy Night...... If you are a Choir regular, you will know this is a traditional Christmas song, that you will probably sing about a zillion times this month in the run up to Jesus' birthday.
Many choirs are booked solid throughout this period and sing at numerous events outside of church and often for hours on end. So my one tip for the festive season, is to make sure you are well juiced up.
The affects of constant singing and the dry winter weather can seriously dehydrate your vocals and leave you more prone to a throat infection.
So, a necessity for your vocal toolbox this winter has to be Water.
Be sure you drink (sip) plenty of water leading up to your performance. Add a little honey and lemon for a soothing affect.
As always make warming up a part of your singing as well as warming down afterwards too.
This is my quick tip for the festive singer.
Until my next time, take good vocal care.
